| Don’t trust the apparent simplicity of this CD Player which received all the benefi ts of our «savoir faire», in digital and analogue domains. This worthy child of our Capitole CD Player has a lot or arguments to seduce you. We fi rst selected a Sony mechanism for its musicality and reliability. Thanks to a high precision clock, we then considered a top level digital treatment. This sensistive part is performed by a Burr-Brown oversampler which converts the 44.1kHz data into a 192 kHz signal, giving more dynamics, details and precision, while removing digital harshness. The digital to analog conversion is performed by a 24bit / 192 kHz DAC that enhances resolution in a natural way; indeed a 16 bit signal treated by a 24 bit DAC leaves room for calculations and the loss in resolution is then negligible. Like our top of the range equipment, we chose the 6021W sub miniature tube from Philips Jan for the analog output stage. Directly soldered to the PCB and small sized, this tube, built to military standards, avoids wrong contacts due to the socket, shortens the signal path, is less sensitive to vibrations and is the perfect match with surface mount components environment. Thanks to its musical qualities, the Prima CD Player competes with far more expensive players and stands as a real high end source for a budget price. |
